• Their pilot study (18 of 25 optometry schools participated) confirmed what most of us feel: current prep doesn't always match what our schools teach

As one of our school's reps in the Student Optometric Leadership Network (SOLN), a national group of private practice club presidents and president-elects from optometry schools, I wanted to share a research opportunity I think our students should hear about.

Clever Prep EyeQ® is a new NBEO Part 1 platform, and it's opening to students through a free research preview. It's a student-led initiative built by a team that's run test prep for years, and the content has been reviewed and endorsed by 13 practicing optometry faculty. The founders also ran a pilot study (18 of 25 optometry schools participating) confirming current board prep doesn't always match what schools actually teach.

Students who join get full platform access free. The research questions are baked into the platform, 10 to 15 minutes total across 3 to 6 months of studying. At the end they'll ask (not require) for release of NBEO Part 1 scores. The goal isn't individual savings; it's to prove a modern, school-aligned platform can be as effective as the $2,000+ options.
